Tropical Nursery Open Day

Sun 21 Sept 2008

Explore the secrets of the Tropical Nursery, Kew's largest glasshouse which is normally
off limits to the public.

At 6,500 square metres it is even larger than the Temperate House and home to thousands of plants from 21 different climatic zones. In here, thousands of plants are raised for reseach and display out in the Gardens.

Kew's horticultural experts will also be on hand to discuss any questions you have on growing plants and will happily share the techniques they use day to day in this world renowned nursery.

You can learn about anything from Kew's biological control techniques to its organic waste management and it's not just plants on display! You'll also see Kew's own colourful butterfly collection.

The Tropical Nursery will be open to the public on Sunday 21 Sept from 11am to 5pm. The entrance to the tropical nursery is between White Peaks Cafe and Climbers and Creepers.
